HealthPoint Medical Group, Inc., is a Tampa Bay-based physician group practice founded in 1996 by area doctors and St. Joseph's - St. Anthony's Health System. Today, HealthPoint's parent corporation is BayCare Health System, founded in 1997 by a Joint Operating Agreement between the area's leading not-for-profit community-owned health systems. Included in the BayCare Joint Operating Agreement are St. Joseph's, St. Anthony's Hospital, South Florida Baptist Hospital, Morton Plant Mease and Bayfront. HealthPoint Medical Group is a primary care practice, including physicians in the specialties of family practice, pediatrics and general internal medicine. HealthPoint's physicians' practices are located throughout our community, near where our patients live and work. HealthPoint Medical Group contracts with HealthPoint Management Services, a full-service practice management service organization. This allows physicians to focus on providing health care services while HealthPoint Management Services concentrates on performing administrative, financial, managed care contracting and information systems functions as directed by HealthPoint Medical Group. Why HealthPoint Should be Part of Your Professional Future. Established in February, 1995, HealthPoint Medical Group has seen remarkable success in its first two years of operation. By January 1998, the Group has grown to include 23 sites and 61 providers. Approximately two-thirds of the providers are located in Hillsborough county and the remainder in South-Pinellas county. HealthPoint has proven to be an attractive option for many physicians, who identify with the group's values and vision. HealthPoint Medical Group contracts with HealthPoint Management Services, a full-service practice management services organization. This allows physicians to focus on providing health-care service while HealthPoint Management Services concentrates on performing administrative, financial, managed care contracting and information systems functions as directed by HealthPoint Medical Group. HealthPoint Management Services performs the following functions: Provides financial services (including billing, collections and accounting services) Provides strategic and tactical support services (including marketing and managed care services, and budget preparation) Provides information services Provides practice site facilities, routine maintenance of such facilities, and equipment and furnishings for the facilities Provides medical support and other administrative personnel Provides human resources functions, specifically hiring, salary, and benefits administration Why Has HealthPoint Been Created? Across the country, managed care is a rapidly growing economic and clinical force. In the Greater Tampa Bay area, research confirms this inexorable transition to managed care and reveals concerns about decreasing options. HealthPoint Medical Group was developed to provide an alternative for physicians who no longer want the administrative burden of managing a practice, but want to focus on providing quality clinical service to their patients.
